Dandelion Project - The Dandelion Project is a weekly, gardening program for abused and neglected children that increases their self-esteem through group activites, mentoring and gardening projects. Volunteers need not be gardeners but must be willing to get their hands dirty and commit to three hours per week from May through October. During the dormant season, many volunteers help with special events and/or stay in contact with the children. Email us for more information.
Prevention Partnership- The Children’s Law Center pairs volunteer attorneys with at-risk children to strengthen and preserve their families without court intervention. After completing a two-hour training, volunteer attorneys are assigned to a family and asked to meet with them regularly, over several months. Volunteer attorneys provide legal advocacy and mentorship to caregivers sparing children the trauma of entering foster care. Email us for more information.
Domestic Violence Program: Representing Child Victims of Domestic Violence - The Domestic Violence Program recruits, trains and supports volunteer attorneys to advocate for children in domestic violence cases. Volunteer attorneys are asked to complete a one-day training session and accept at least one case. Cases require attorneys to conduct a two-week investigation and make recommendations in court on the child’s behalf. Email us for more information.
