The Children's Law Center represents children at both the trial court and appellate court levels. Each year, we participate in over two dozen appellate cases, seeking to ensure that proper court orders are upheld and those contrary to the child's interest are corrected. We also appear as friend of the court on crucial matters impacting Colorado's abused and neglected children.
In 2013, the Children's Law Center prevailed in a hallmark case for foster parents. The Colorado Supreme Court unanimously agreed with the Children's Law Center that foster parents should be allowed to fully participate in court hearings and provide the court critical information about the abused children in their care. This case is a victory for Colorado's abused and neglected children because it ensures that judges will have the best information possible when making health and safety decisions on their behalf.
