In November, police raided a motel room and discovered four adults using crack cocaine and a five-month-old girl named Ally sleeping in a car seat with several baggies under the car seat. She was immediately placed in foster care where Jason was appointed her guardian ad litem. She adjusted surprisingly well and Ally's mother tried to turning herself around. She checked into a residential treatment center that specialized in substance abuse rehabilitation and parenting skills. She remained there for five months until she was unsuccessfully discharged.
The Children’s Law Center agreed to place Ally with her grandfather. Ten days later, the grandfather notified the caseworker that he had to leave town and couldn’t take Ally with him. In response, the caseworker tried to placed Ally back with her unstable mother. Jason fought the move in court, arguing that a return to an unsafe home would place Ally at risk. The court agreed and Ally was kept safe.
Ally’s mother later admitted that she was using again and may have harmed Ally had Jason not intervened. Ally's mom later re-entered rehab, began family therapy and is doing much better. The family was recently reunited and Ally is safe and happy.
